Stuck at Home Book Tag

Although I wasn’t nominated, I saw this tag over on ‘The Bookish Chick‘ and I thought it would be fun to write my own ‘Stuck at Home’ bookish post. The tag was originally created by Ellyn from Allonsythornraxx, so be sure to check out their post too.

I have to admit, lockdown has been great for my productivity (hence the brand new blog and Bookstagram), so I don’t feel too “stuck” at home, but I definitely miss going outside and seeing friends and family. I hope you’re coping with whatever lockdown restrictions are in place wherever you are – and my DMs are always open on Twitter or Instagram if you want a chat about anything!

Without any further rambling…on with the tag.

What book are you currently reading?
At the time of writing this post (scheduled very slightly in advance) I’m reading the sequel to ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder‘ – ‘Good Girl, Bad Blood’ by Holly Jackson.

Favourite ‘can’t leave the house’ activity?
Since being at home, I’ve been reading more, writing more, and spending way too much time on Animal Crossing New Horizons, but I’ve been having a pretty good time doing all of them so I can’t really complain!

A book you’ve been meaning to read forever?
I started reading ‘Jane Two’ by Sean Patrick Flanery years ago but I never finished it as it was a hardback and a pain to carry to college! I might pick it up soon, though, whilst we’re in lockdown so I don’t have to carry it around with me.

An intimidating book on your TBR?
‘Normal People’ by Sally Rooney. I was so excited for this book until I realised there are no speech marks in it. I’m probably overreacting but it definitely put me off – I do hope to come back to it soon though.

Top 3 Priority Books on your TBR?
The books I hope to read next are (in no particular order) ‘Dead Man’s Footsteps’ by Peter James which is the next book in his ‘Roy Grace’ series, ‘The Outsider’ by Stephen King, or the aforementioned Jane Two by Sean Patrick Flanery.

Recommend a Short Book
I will always always always recommend ‘The Outsiders’ by S. E. Hinton – my all time favourite book. But, another one I love is Stephen King’s short story collection ‘The Bazaar of Bad Dreams’.

Recommend a Long Book
Definitely ‘11.22.63’ by Stephen King! I would also recommend ‘It’ by Stephen King, but I had to pause it halfway through as it is just so long.

Something You’d Love to do while Stuck at Home
We’ve started making our garden look prettier! My parents and I moved house last year into a new build and so the garden is very bare – no plants, no shed, nothing. We’ve started painting the fence, added some flowers, but we definitely have a few things in mind!

What Do You Plan on Reading Next?
One of the three books I mentioned (Jane Two, The Outsider, Dead Man’s Footsteps) however I have ordered some more books recently and I have a few in mind to pick up next time I’m at the store – so they might just get in the way!

I’d like to tag Emma from Reading with Emma, but if you’d like to take part after reading this then I’d love to see your post too!

As always, you can keep up to date with me on my other socials: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook between posts. My DMs are always open for bookish or non-bookish chats
